About the academy

A real dojo, not a chain.

Hall’s Martial Arts Academy teaches Chun Kuk Do, the martial art created by Chuck Norris. We are a small, family-run school in Bloomingdale, Ohio, recognized by the United Fighting Arts Federation.

Lead instructor Phil Hall has been training in the system since 1979 and teaching since 1983. He holds black belt number 523, one of the earliest still active. Beside him, assistant instructor David Barcroft brings an inspiring story of resilience and a steady, encouraging presence.

What you find here is what students have always come to find: discipline, respect, real technique, and people who remember your name.

What you train

More than punches and kicks.

Chun Kuk Do is a complete system: striking, blocking, forms, sparring, weapons, and the principles of conduct that Chuck Norris built it on. Our students train all of it.

Technique

Stance, blocks, strikes, and the forms (poomsae) that put it all together. Built up step by step so muscle memory sticks.

Self defense

Practical application. We work with partners at controlled speed so the techniques translate to a real situation, not just a tournament floor.

Discipline and character

Chuck Norris built this art on a code of conduct. Respect, perseverance, integrity. We teach it on the mat and we live it off it.

Inside the dojo

A look at our training.

Our lineage

The Chuck Norris System.

The art started with Chuck Norris in the 1960s, evolved into Chun Kuk Do in 1990, and returned to its name as the Chuck Norris System in 2015. The lineage has stayed intact across every change. The principles, the forms, the code of conduct: all the same.

Hall’s is a UFAF (United Fighting Arts Federation) recognized school, which means our rank, our curriculum, and our standards are tied directly to the international body Chuck Norris founded. When you earn a belt here, it counts everywhere.

In their words

“Mr. Phil Hall and the entire community here made me feel welcome from day one. With their support, I pushed myself to set and reach goals I never thought possible. As an assistant instructor now, I get to give back by helping others on their journeys, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”
